This 4.5 hour workshop and optional e-learning module will explain the importance of te tamaiti (the child’s) or rangatahi (young person’s) identity and belonging.

This learning opportunity is part of the National Caregiver Training Programme (NCTP) developed by Oranga Tamariki – Ministry for Children for all caregivers in New Zealand and is delivered by Caring Families Aotearoa.

Overview:

A person’s sense of self is linked to more than their genealogy or whakapapa. We will introduce the different types of personal connections and explain how they are fundamental to the wellbeing of te tamaiti (the child) or rangatahi (young person). At the workshop you will be given the opportunity to explore concepts, share experiences, reflect and take away ideas of how you can practically apply your learning to support te tamaiti (the child) or rangatahi (young person) in your care. A separate optional e learning module has been created to provide caregivers with context and background information. You don’t need to complete the e learning module to attend the workshop.
