When you are finding your child's behaviours challenging, do you want to help them regulate their emotions? Would you like to build a stronger connection between you and your child, and create a more trusting relationship and calmer home?

Parenting trauma-experienced tamariki (children) takes a whole set of different tools. This workshop aims to look beneath the behaviour, and understand how previous traumatic experiences impact the tamariki in your care. We explore the necessity of changing our approach to parenting, and in doing so prompting a different response from us.

Learning Objectives:

  1. To gain an understanding of how Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) impact on the child's development.
  2. To gain an understanding of the 'why' behind the child's behaviour.
  3. To explore ways of building emotional connections with children while also providing support for behaviour.
