This small group workshop focuses mainly on the caregiver.

It will help caregivers understand how the way they were parented affects how they parent their children in care. We will explore and help caregivers understand the feelings they experience in response to the children and how their emotional responses can help them maintain a therapeutic stance in their caregiving.

The session then moves to the importance of self-care to enable caregivers to be resilient. The group will leave this session with an understanding of self-care and the beginning of a plan to make changes.

Learning Objectives:

Objective 1: To consider the importance of social support and looking after self.

Objective 2: To explore how to manage the emotional impact of caring for a child.

Objective 3: To increase understanding of brain-based parenting and blocked care.
